welcome to

st. george’s grange park

We are a church restored in the heart of Downtown Toronto.

We’re launching a new community in one of Toronto’s oldest churches to share an ancient faith with a modern city. On Sundays, we gather with the expectation of an encounter with God by his Spirit. We invite people to discover purpose and real friendship through Alpha. We’re transformed by the love of Jesus as we follow a Rhythm of Life together. And we’re witnesses to the truth, goodness and beauty that he gives.

We’d love for you to join us.

History

St. George’s is one of Toronto’s oldest churches, planted to serve the growing needs of what was then Toronto’s west end. By the start of the 20th century, hundreds gathered weekly to worship. A fire destroyed the historic building in 1955, but the community persisted, sharing an ancient faith continually made new in the power of the Holy Spirit. Gradual decline forced the congregation to close in 2017, when the church came under the administration of St. Paul’s Bloor Street. But after seven years of rest, St. Paul’s decided it was time to worship here again and sent a team to launch a new community in 2024.

our values

  • Encounter

The centre of our community is a personal encounter with Jesus. This is why we’re here—to know and be known by God.

  • Belong

Together we belong to God’s family, the church. There’s genuine friendship here and everyone’s welcome.

  • Transform

We believe Jesus transforms lives. We follow a Rhythm of Life made up of five ancient spiritual practices. This is a way of living that helps us become more like Jesus, together.

  • Witness

St. George was a martyr—literally, “a witness”— to Jesus Christ. We follow his example as living witnesses through proclamation, demonstration and creation— sharing the truth, goodness and beauty of Jesus with others.

  • Multiply

We give what we have received. As a church plant, we multiply disciples and leaders toward the end of multiplying neighbourhood churches alive with God’s power in Toronto.

our culture & beliefs

In matters of belief, we affirm the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds, the historic statements of faith that have united all Christians for thousands of years.

Our worship includes contemporary music and extended periods of prayer in and through the Holy Spirit. Our preaching interprets divinely-inspired Holy Scripture as authoritative for the spiritual benefit of our community.

We practice two sacraments: water baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and regular celebration of the Eucharist (Communion/Lord’s Supper). Any baptized Christian of any age or denomination is welcome to receive communion.

We are a mission parish and a church plant of St. Paul’s Bloor Street, sharing a vision for a growing family of neighbourhood churches alive with the power of God for the good of Toronto.

We are a church of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto, which is a member diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada and part of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide family of churches comprising more than 85 million people.
